Phoenix Court, that links the High Street and North Street, has been cleaned up, lighting has been improved and a bench and planters have been added.

The work has been undertaken to celebrate 25 years of the Guildford Business Forum.

The area was selected for improvement as part of Project Proud, an initiative led by Guildford Borough Council working closely with Experience Guildford, Legal & General and Guildford College.

Guildford College apprentices, and Merrist Wood College staff and students, worked to design and install the planter and seating area as well as the hanging baskets.

Cllr Gordon Jackson, lead councillor for economic development, said: “Project Proud is about Guildford borough as a whole, identifying areas of improvement and working with partners to make those areas more attractive. Phoenix Court is the first area to be completed and we hope to make improvements to further sites in the future.”
