Surrey police are appealing for witnesses following an incident where a lamb is suspected to have been stolen and killed in a field off Pirbright Road, Normandy.

The police said in a statement this week: “Rural crime has a significant impact on local livelihoods and animal welfare, and we take reports like this seriously.”

The incident happened overnight between 9pm on Sunday, May 17, and 5am on Monday, May 18.

The field has fencing next to School Road, Pirbright. Police said there were no signs consistent with a predatory animal attack and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
