Viktor Ivanelo, a student from the University of Surrey who has accommodation in Guildford.

The search for a missing 21-year-old University of Surrey student is intensifying, five days since his disappearance, with a large number of police officers looking and making enquiries in a bid to locate him.

Viktor Ivanelo, who has lodgings in Guildford, has not been seen since the early hours of Sunday (February 26) when he left a friend’s house in Esher at around 2am.

Surrey Police Chief Inspector of operations Amy Buffoni said: “There has not been a single sighting of Viktor since the time he left the property in Esher and we are extremely concerned for his welfare.

“The lack of communication from him is unusual and out of character. We are committed to trying to locate Viktor and will extend our activities as widely as necessary.”

Last night a team of more than thirty officers were combing an area where Viktor’s bag was found, alongside a bridleway in Woodstock Lane South, Chessington, by a horse rider on Sunday morning at around 11.40am. They were assisted in their work by the police helicopter and dog units.

Officers are also continuing to carry out house-to-house enquiries and teams are dedicated to carrying out specific investigations.

The latest development is confirmation that Viktor has been seen on CCTV at Clapham Junction rail station at 3.37pm on Saturday (25 February). He is believed to have travelled from here to Claygate station. He was wearing a three quarter length green puffa jacket, headphones and was carrying a bag.

Viktor Ivanelo, was not wearing glasses when last seen.

When he was last seen he was wearing a grey formal jacket, blue jeans and smart shoes and was carrying a black over the shoulder Hugo Boss bag. He was not wearing his glasses when he left the address in Esher.

Viktor’s permanent address is in South West London and he has student accommodation in Guildford but he has not been seen at either address since he went missing.

Chief Inspector Buffoni said: “Please call us immediately if you have seen or have any information about the whereabouts of Viktor. You may hold a single detail which you may think is unimportant but please share it could be vital to finding Viktor safe and well.”

The police ask anyone with information to call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference 45170020251.
