Police who were on patrol near Ash Station became suspicious when they saw three young men riding electric motorcycles along Guildford Road.

One of the young men then abandoned a black Talaria Sting electric motorcycle.

Police have appealed to the public for any information about the incident, which happened at 9.30pm on Sunday night (August 31).

They believe the abandoned motorcycle to have been stolen and said in a statement: “We are looking to reunite the bike with its rightful owner.

“If you think you recognise the bike pictured as yours, or have any information relating to this, please get in touch quoting PR/45250106926.”

Electric motorcycles differ to legal e-bikes in that they:

  • can be propelled at more than 15.5 mph by the motor
  • have a continuous rated power output higher than 250 watts
  • do not need to be propelled by pedals.

As motorbikes they must be registered, are liable for road tax and riders must be insured and have an appropriate driving licence.
