Police Seek Witnesses After Robbery Bid on Father and Son in Godalming

Witnesses are being sought after three males attacked and tried to rob a father and son in Godalming, early on June 21.

The pair were walking along the High Street at about 12.30am on their way home from visiting friends when the three young suspects approached and asked for cigarettes. They walked on.

The suspects followed but stopped them and demanded money on Bridge Street, between Waitrose and the Council Cinema building. The suspects started kicking and punching the victims as police arrived.

Two suspects, an 18-year-old from Havant and a 17-year-old from Haslemere were arrested and released under investigation.

One suspect fled. He is described as white, in his late teens, about 5ft 11″ and slim, with no facial hair. He was wearing a white baseball cap and a dark jacket.
