A pupil at George Abbot School in Burpham has been injured in an assault involving a pair of scissors.
Surrey Police officers were called to the secondary school this afternoon (March 6), following reports that a boy had been assaulted by another pupil.
The police report that members of staff intervened immediately and remained with the suspect until officers arrived.
The victim is said by police to have suffered a single small puncture wound to his back and has been taken to hospital as a precaution. It is not believed that his injuries are serious.
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in relation to the incident and is currently in custody.
Both boys’ parents have been informed. The school also sent out a message to parents informing them that an incident had taken place.
Guildford Borough Commander Inspector Andy Hill said: “This was an isolated incident between two pupils at the school. Staff were on the scene immediately, intervened and remained with the boy until we arrived.
“I would like to reassure parents that no other pupils were involved in this incident and that there is no risk to the wider public.
“Our enquiries remain ongoing and officers are still at the school speaking to witnesses and working closely with staff to establish the circumstances of the incident.”
