Retirement Home’s Grand Opening After Major Refurbishment

The Mayor of Guildford, Marsha Moseley, accompanied by her consort, Cllr Nigel Manning, officially opened the newly refurbished Merrow House on Tuesday this week (September 14).

The Mayor of Guildford, Marsha Moseley, with Merrow House’s longest resident, who has lived there for 20 years.

After cutting the ribbon the mayor spent time chatting with residents of Merrow House over a buffet lunch while also enjoying the newly created space.

Also in attendance was the chairman of Guildford Sunset Homes board of trustees, Mike Parsons, who is a former mayor of Guildford.

Guildford Sunset Homes is an independent charitable housing association, providing 87 apartments for rent to older people at Merrow who live in or have connections with Guildford. It is managed by ELM Group who have provided a comprehensive management service to Guildford Sunset Homes since 1986.

Merrow House, a Grade II listed property was subject to a major refurbishment programme in 2020 to provide an open plan café hub-style room with kitchen and seating, a brand-new laundry room, restyling and redecorating of the stunning lounge.

The ELM group is a leading leasehold estate management company that provides a tailored approach to all sectors of the residential property market.
