The Guildford Rock Choir hit the High Street again over the weekend to help raise money for the mental health charity Oakleaf.
Under their leader Tom George, they put on two performances outside Holy Trinity Church on Saturday (May 16), going through a set of songs that included: Sweet Child of Mine, The Power of Love, Someone You Love, Green, Green Grass of Home and A Little Respect.
The Dragon spoke to two of the choir members, Diana and Barbara, who were full of praise for their choir leader. “Tom is fantastic,” they said, “so enthusiastic. It’s infectious.
“We get a real sense of well-being from taking part and we’ve made friends. There’s a real sense of teamwork and camaraderie – and it get’s us out of the house!”
Choir members pay £300 per annum to take part which allows them to go to as many rehearsals and meet up with fellow members as they wish. The Guildford Choir meets at Emmanuel Church in Stoughton on Monday evenings and Rydes Hill School on Wednesday evenings
