Royal Surrey County Hospital is one of the CHKS Top Hospitals for 2016, an accolade awarded to the 40 top performing CHKS client Trusts.
As well as national awards for patient experience, patient safety, quality of care and data quality, CHKS, a provider of healthcare intelligence and quality improvement services to the NHS and independent healthcare sector, celebrates excellence among its own clients throughout the UK.
The “Top Hospitals” award is based on the evaluation of over 20 key performance indicators covering safety, clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care.
Royal Surrey was also shortlisted for both the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement awards.
Chief Executive Peter Dunt said: “I am proud that once again Royal Surrey has been recognised as one of the top hospitals in the country.
“This is testament to the commitment and dedication of our staff who continually strive to provide the best care anywhere and put the patient at the centre of everything we do.”
The CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards were held in London on May 10 and were attended by over 200 guests including leaders from across the healthcare sector including: NHS England, health care sector regulators, and acute Trusts.
Sarah Atkinson, managing director, CHKS said: “These awards recognise the outstanding performance in those areas which we believe are critical to delivering high quality care. We are delighted that Royal Surrey is one of our 2016 Top Hospitals.”

Well done the Royal Surrey!
Also in the top 40, were the following four Surrey based NHS trusts: Ashford & St Peter; Epsom & St Helier; Frimley Health; and
Kingston Hospital.

This hopefully will be the catalyst to achieving an ‘outstanding’ grading on the ‘blue riband’ accolade with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, improving upon on the ‘good’ assessment of Dec 13 and so joining top ranked Frimley Health.
