A group of Surrey county councillors is looking into the mental health provision for residents.
The task group will review the “journey” of adults with mental health conditions and assess how they are supported and helped with different public sector organisations.
The councillors will look at how organisations in Surrey work together to support those with mental health conditions “to live full and fulfilling lives”, according to a report given to the council’s adult and health select committee.
Wearing yellow to highlight World Mental Health Day on Thursday, October 10, Cllr Bernie Muir announced the task group had been set up.
Encouraging people to reach out for help, she said: “Just a smile could make a difference and be a small act of kindness. But above all, by asking people you suspect are suffering just how they are.”
She said: “If you are struggling please do not suffer in silence. Please speak to someone you trust or reach out to one of the organisations out there who are able to help you.”
