Albert Stanley, a prisoner who absconded from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire, has been found by police at an address in Worthing, Sussex.
Stanley, aged 63, who was given a life sentence for murder in 1980, failed to return to the prison following a period of home leave in Guildford, Surrey.
A police statement said that they wished to thank everyone who had helped with their enquiry.
