Spectrum Gets ‘Reddy’ for British Heart Foundation Fundraiser

Guildford’s Spectrum leisure centre will be raising funds as well as health awareness for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) this Friday, February 6.

All ‘reddy’ for fundraising at Guildford Spectrum on red Friday, February 6.

It sees the start of heart month and Spectrum is encouraging people to drop their £1 locker money into one of the BHF collecting buckets after their workout.

A range of classes will run on ‘red Friday’ including legs, bums and tums from 9.45am to 10.45am; Body balance at 10.50am to 11.50am; spinning at 12.30pm, 5.30pm and 6.30pm; and a choice of body pump or body balance from 6pm to 7pm.

The gym teams will also be looking out for people working out in red and swimmers are also being asked to brighten up the pools if possible.

In addition, Spectrum will be running its regular Friday morning cardiac rehab session from 9.30am to 10.30am and no doubt a range of red garments will be on display among this group of people who are personally managing heart disease.

Area manager Steve May of Freedom Leisure that runs Spectrum on behalf of Guildford Borough Council,said: “One in four of our loved ones will be lost to heart and circulatory disease so the work of the British Heart Foundation affects us all.

“It’s so easy for Spectrum visitors to make a difference on Friday February 6, simply by wearing something red to show their support, donating their locker money and completing a workout to help safeguard their own heart health.

“Staff will also be supporting the initiative and I’m told the instructors are also getting ready to encourage everyone to play their part.”
