Other panellists included Professor Ann Gallagher, who chairs the University of Surrey’s ethics committee; and the cathedral’s Revd Canon Dr Andrew Bishop, who is also chaplain to the university.

The first Post-16 Conference took place last year and is based on the format of the BBC programme Question Time. This event was attended by around 500 students. It was hosted by the Guildford Cathedral Schools’ Department, which works within the local and wider community, offering activities of the highest level to children and young people.

Anne said: “I was delighted to be invited to be part of this amazing event for young people. It was great to see so many young people attend and hear what matters to them – such as child euthanasia, the ISIS threat in Syria and Iraq, the situation in Gaza and whether 16-years-olds should be given the vote. A fantastic event – well done to those that made this such a success!”
