Teenage Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Road Collision

A 13-year-old girl, was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision on Salt Box Road, Worplesdon, on Friday (23 July). Her next of kin are aware.

The incident, involving an orange mini and a pedestrian, occurred shortly after 4.30pm. The female driver of the car was uninjured.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for anyone with any information, especially if you were driving in the area at the time of the collision and you have dashcam or helmet cam footage, to get in touch with us straight away, by quoting incident number P21158619 via:

“If you do not wish to leave your name, please call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

    Wishing a complete recovery to the child involved, there are, frankly, far too many collisions like this. Why people are not far angrier about it, is a mystery.

    We should also question how this is reported, why not say that there was a collision between the driver of an orange mini and a pedestrian, rather than give the impression that the car was driverless.

    It perhaps goes some way to explain why we’ve become so desensitized to these kind of events and no more progressive action is taken to prevent them.
