Community organisation Burpham Wellbeing has published a free guide to help people enjoy a ‘light Christmas’ and empower them to resist present pressure this year.
Endorsed by Zero Carbon Guildford, the guide encourages buying less, buying local and buying better in a bid to ensure both people and the planet have a more enjoyable and sustainable Christmas.
The guide covers five key topics and advises Christmas shoppers to be savvier in their selections. The topics are: buy less, buy better, buy local, buy sustainably, present your presents better
Ruth Stone, author of the guide, said: “The cost-of-living crisis has added another unwelcome layer to the pressure of present buying this year.
“Our guide is designed to release that pressure with practical, applicable ideas of how to reduce what you spend, be more selective about what you buy and support the local economy too.
“It’s free to download in good time before the major retailers’ advertising campaigns begin and so will empower readers to make more informed and planet-friendly buying choices.”

I’d really appreciate any feedback on the guide and welcome any suggestions too. It’s something I’d like to revise and republish every year.
