The Shop Front: Meadowlark Musical Theatre Productions is Welcoming New Members

Meadowlark Musical Theatre Productions is an amateur theatre company that rehearses at the Arts Centre Guildford, 221 Epsom Road, Merrow.

Cerys Jones, who is its marketing manager, said: “Our founding members met through the musical theatre society at the University of Surrey. Once we graduated, we knew we wanted to carry on performing, but found that there weren’t any amateur musical theatre groups in Guildford. So we decided to set up our own!

Meadowlark Musical Theatre Productions is open to people, aged 16 and over, of all experience and abilities in terms of musical theatre.

“We are a team of seven, and each have a different role in the running of the company based on our own set of skills.

“We held two taster sessions in the middle of October last year, and then began rehearsals for our first showcase that took place in February.”

Meadowlark has just started rehearsals for its next showcase, Musicals Through The Ages, which will be performed on June 8 and 9. It will be starring songs from hit musicals like The Wizard of Oz, Grease, Hairspray and more!

Cerys adds: “Although we have started rehearsals, we still welcome new members, or people to come along to a session for free to get a taste of what we’re all about!”
