Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre hopes to have something for everyone in its new autumn season.

While the curtains close for renovation of the stage lights this summer, tickets for the autumn programme will go on general sale next Friday, July 27.

The new season will offer more than just theatrical performances. The lineup introduces different styles: discussions, music, films and much more are added to the programme to entertain everyone.

The theatre will open its door with a Film Season from August 22 to September 1, with a selection of film releases of 2018, including the comedy Vulcan 7, which will premiere in Guildford.

To follow, the musical Showstopper! The Improvised Musical will comes from the West End to Guildford for two nights, September 6-7.

With local and topical notes is The Ferguson Gang (September 13-15, Mill Studio), a musical based on the story of a group of ladies who start a campaign of heritage protection from Shalford Mill to the Isle of Wight, from Cornwall to Sherwood Forest.

Later the theatre will be joined by a former BBC War Correspondent during the Guildford Book Festival to present An Evening with Martin Bell: War and The Death of News on October 7 and then, in contrast, anecdotes from the world of professional dancing and BBC’s “Strictly…” in a show titled: In Conversation with Anton Du Beke on October 14.

Not to forget drama, the theatre’s Mill Studio will start the season with a Shakespeare classic Twelfth Night on August, 29 to then offer the public a variety of different play.

Amongst them, some comedy-drama can be found in When the Cat’s Away, inspired by women who won the right to vote a century ago.

The public will also be able to immerse themselves in a teenager’s social life in the play DNA, or in a story of romance and despair with A Hundred Different Words for Love.

Some family-friendly shows have also been programmed as the studio joins the Yvonne Arnaud Youth Theatre for shows such as The Snow Queen and A Christmas Carol in December.

On the main stage, the actress Michelle Gayle will feature in the family pantomime Cinderella for a month from December 7 onward.
