A crowd, estimated to be 15,000 strong, attended a bonfire and fireworks display at Ripley last night Saturday, October 27 (2018). one attendee described it as “amazing”.

The Bonfire Queen is transported to the festivities.

The village was brought to a standstill with bonfire parade headed up by a Royal Marine Cadet marching band followed by the bonfire queen and procession.

The bonfire to the right and the funfair to the left plenty to attract the thousands of people that attended.

A funfair increased the attraction and success of the event as did the dry weather.

The heat of the bonfire forced the crowd to retreat but did not spoil the enjoyment.

The lighting of a huge bonfire kicked off the main event. It was lit by the bonfire queen and those who had taken part in the torch lit parade. Several firemen monitored the fire, the heat of which forced the crowds back some way beyond the taped off area.

Observers agreed that the fireworks were even better than last year with many new exciting displays that audibly wowed the crowd.
