Throughput Increasing at G Live Vaccination Centre But Over 70s Not Called Forward Yet

Those attending the Covid vaccination centre at G Live in Guildford yesterday all reported an efficient process and high levels of satisfaction.

The lead organiser told us that progress is good, throughput was increasing and that over 4,000 residents had been vaccinated in the previous week. He said that only over 80s were being processed at the moment, but readers who are over 70 have subsequently reported that they are now beginning to receive invitations, though not necessarily for G Live.

As we watched, attendees arriving by vehicle were directed by volunteers into the car park and other volunteers ushered them to the side entrance and into a foyer area. Here a short queue formed at times but it moved quickly so no one had to stand for very long.

Temperature checks were conducted before patients moved into the area where the vaccinations were administered. We spoke to Dr Ridsdill-Smith the clinical lead for “Procare” the federation of GPs in Guildford and Waverley which is organising the vaccination programme locally…

We could not be given access to the areas where the vaccinations were administered but the following photos show how it is laid out.

Actually over 70s called two days ago to G Live.

Editor’s response: The headline refers to what was said to us by the organiser Dr Ridsdill-Smith in our interview.

My parents are in their 90’s and would have loved appointments at G Live. Our Guildford GP didn’t help so had to book through NHS who could only offer Superdrug at end of January.

I am an over 70 and I was called on Tuesday 19th and had the vaccination the following day. Well organised and very efficiently carried all within a few minutes of arriving at GLive. Well done everybody concerned.

My 90-year-old mother had hers last Sunday. Excellent and smooth process. She and I were really impressed.

Had my jab yesterday. Short wait after arrival process, then in for the jab. Took about five minutes with the doctor, then a 15 minute sit down and off home. All in all, about 30 minutes from entering G Live to leaving. Everyone very professional and friendly. They deserve the highest praise.

Not only was G Live extremely well organised but all the people involved were so very kind. They were all cheerful and welcoming, and obviously aware that the over 75s coming in might be fearful, not just about catching the virus but of being in a very public place for possibly the first time in months. The helpers were quick to reassure and made what might have been a daunting experience into a pleasant social occasion. Thank you.
