Trio Robbed By Gang Of Five In Stoke Park

Three men were robbed by five others in Stoke Park as they sheltered from the rain.

Feature Surrey police badge 3The three men had met up to go skateboarding in the park on Tuesday last week (February 4). When it started to rain they went into a wooden shelter where they were approached by five men at around 3.25pm.

Surrey Police officers, who are appealing for witnesses to the robbery, have stated that the suspects came from the direction of Guildford College and arrived in two pairs and a lone offender.

The first pair asked the trio for drugs and the victims replied they did not have any. The second pair verbally threatened the friends and the fifth suspect demanded the group empty their pockets. One of the victims said he did not have any property and was then struck over the head by the last offender.

As a result of the incident, a 23-year-old man suffered a swollen and reddened eye and cheek. The suspects made off with tobacco, cash and a mobile phone.

The suspects are described as white men, each wearing gloves and using slang when they spoke.

The first suspect is described as 6ft 3in and was wearing a black puffa jacket, purple tracksuit bottoms and a black Carhartt beanie hat with an orange symbol. The second suspect is described as 5ft 9in with a bloodshot right eye and slicked back dark hair. He was wearing an army green parka-style jacket and blue jeans.

The fifth suspect is described as wearing a grey puffa jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms, black gloves and a black beanie hat.

Detective Constable Mike Taylor investigating said: “This was a nasty unprovoked attack in daylight on a group of friends who were just enjoying some time out together. I am appealing for anyone else who was in the vicinity at the time of the offence and may have witnessed what happened to call Surrey Police.

“This type of violence will not be tolerated in our neighbourhoods and officers will do everything possible to bring those responsible to justice.”

Three men, aged 23, 21 and 19,  all from the Guildford area, are currently on bail in relation to the offence. They are due to report back to the police on March 21.
