Police are appealing for witnesses concerning two offences. The first follows an aggravated burglary in Shalford when two men confronted an 81-year-old in her home last Thursday (November 29, 2018) at 1.45pm.

Two men entered the home, off Horsham Road, through an unlocked back door and forced the victim to the floor, but she raised the alarm through an emergency care button.

The two men then fled without taking anything. The victim suffered bumps and bruises as a result. The men are described as white, about 5ft7ins tall, medium build with dark clothing

Investigating officer Police Sergeant Stephen Bullard, from Guildford Criminal Investigation Department, said: “This was an understandably terrifying ordeal for the victim who came across these two men in her home late at night.

“We believe that this was an opportunistic burglary by two men who may well have attempted to enter other properties in the area that night.

“We have been carrying out house-to-house checks in the area and would ask residents to look out for their neighbours and make sure that your home is as secure as it can be. If would urge anyone living in Shalford to be vigilant and please get in touch if you might have seen these two men before or after this incident.

“Please call 101 and quote the reference number PR/45180127445 if you have any information, alternatively you can report online via: surrey.police.uk/ReportIt.

Call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you have information about a crime and don’t want to leave your name.

The second appeal follows a case of criminal damage caused to a Volkswagen camper van in Guildford also last Thursday (November 29).

The incident occurred in Great Goodwin Drive, accessed from Boxgrove Road. Google Maps

At approximately 10.15pm, the windows of the camper van parked on Great Goodwin Drive were deliberately smashed. The van is blue, with white wedding ribbons tied to the front.

Officers would like to speak to a man seen in the area close to the time of the incident. He is described as white, aged late 20s to early 30s, with a beard, wearing a flat cap, black-rimmed glasses, and khaki jacket.

Anyone with information, or the man who was seen near by should contact Surrey Police on 101 (999 in an emergency) or surrey.police.uk/ReportIt, quoting reference PR/45180127381.
