In less than a month voters head to the polls in a landmark Surrey election.
On Thursday, May 7, for the first time in over 50 years, local government will change as the county council merges with its 11 boroughs and districts and will be split into two mega authorities, called East and West Surrey.
A week ago we published the candidates nominated for the new West Surrey, Guildford wards.

But we know we have readers from outside Guildford so below are the nominated candidates for the Waverley wards.
The ward boundaries fit existing divisions at Surrey County Council, but there will be two councillors for each area instead of one as is the case at SCC now. Significantly, it will mark, next year, the end of borough councillors.
Counts will take place at the existing boroughs and results sent to a central hubs in Runnymede for West Surrey.
The counts and announcement of results will be held on May 8.
Two names to note
Steve Dally, standing as an Independent in Godalming South, Milford & Witley Ward, has been a leading light in the campaign against CIL charges as imposed by Waverley Borough Council. It is probably no coincidence that he is standing in the same ward as Paul Follows the Lib Dem leader of WBC.

Graham Ellwood was formerly a Conservative SCC councillor for Guildford East and a GBC councillor for Merrow. He lost his GBC seat in 2019 and was disqualified as a county councillor for non-attendance. He is now standing for Reform UK in Waverley Eastern Villages.

There are nine non-national party candidates, including six from the Farnham Residents party. In common with Guildford, there are two candidates standing, in each ward, from the Conservative, Green, Liberal Democrats and Reform UK parties and one in each ward from Labour.
