Wisley Property Investments Limited have responded to complaints from residents over further nuisance caused by bikers using the former airfield at Wisley on the August bank holiday weekend.

Project Director Mike Murray, said: “Motorcycling on the runway is entirely unauthorised and we have held regular meetings and discussions with Surrey Police, Surrey County Council and Guildford Borough Council to explore ways to address it.

“These authorities have confirmed that the actions we have taken, including creating tyre barriers across the runway, installing steel beams and fencing at entrances, and putting up signs, are all that could be reasonably expected of the landowner.

“We have also used social media platforms to contact motor cycling groups direct where they are openly discussing meeting at Wisley Airfield to inform them that motorcycling is not permitted.

“However, the biggest constraint to preventing motorbike access to the site is the location of bridleways crossing the Airfield which we are not permitted to block in a way that would frustrate access on a motorbike.”
