Two people were walking to the station when they were threatened and assaulted by a group of six teenagers.

Police were called to Walnut Tree Close Shortly before 4am and found two men in their twenties had sustained injuries to their head and face. They were taken to hospital but neither man sustained “life-changing injuries” and both have been released from hospital.

The four arrested include a 17-year-old boy from Guildford, an 18-year-old man from Ash, an 18-year-old man from Guildford and a 19-year-old man from Woking. All four remain in custody.

Although four have been arrested, six suspects have, in total, been identified and are described as “a group of older teenagers made up of five men and one woman believed to be between 17 and 19-years-old”. One of the men wore a blue quarter zip jacket and balaclava.

Surrey Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Detective Inspector Sophie Bayman said: “I understand the significant police presence outside Guildford railway station may have caused concern and we are working hard to establish the full circumstances of what happened in the early hours of yesterday morning. Four people have been swiftly arrested as part of our investigation and enquiries remain ongoing.

“The cordon on Walnut Tree Close was removed yesterday afternoon and we want to thank people for their patience whilst we responded to the incident.”

A police spokesperson: “We are looking to speak with anyone who was in the area at around 4am and may have witnessed the assault or have dashcam footage that could help our investigation. This includes any taxi drivers who were working in Guildford at the time.
