Surrey police officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses following an assault in Guildford town centre last month.

A man was left with a broken nose and a fractured cheekbone following the incident, which took place in Friary Street around 3-15am on July 26.

The 20-year-old male victim became involved in an altercation at Casino nightclub with another group of men, which resulted in them being asked to leave. The victim then spotted the men outside the Metro Bank in Friary Street and a fight broke out, with the victim receiving several punches.

He was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford where he was treated for a broken nose and fractured cheekbone.

Detective Constable Chris Woolford, who is investigating the incident, said: “We are still trying to piece together the exact circumstances of what happened and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident in Friary Street or the altercation in Casino nightclub, as well as anyone else with any other information.”

Police ask that anyone with any information contacts DC Chris Woolford at Surrey Police on 101, quoting crime reference 45140062395 or, if you prefer not to leave your name, call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
