Surrey Police has thanked the public for their help in an incident where a motorist was encountered driving the wrong way on the M25 on Wednesday night (February 10).

A grey Vauxhall Insignia was spotted by members of the public driving erratically on the M25 at Leatherhead between junctions 8 and 9 at around 8.50pm.

The vehicle was eventually brought to a halt when the officers from the Roads Policing Unit have gone head to head with it, with the two stopping less than a metre apart.

The female driver, Oliveria Hanjarina, from Enfield, in her late 30s, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through alcohol.

She was later charged with dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a driving licence and failing to provide a sample of breath and has been bailed to attend Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, March 13, 2021.
