Workman Electrocuted on Stoke Road and Offensive Behaviour Reported in Merrow

A man was electrocuted while working near the entrance to Guildford Lido on Stoke Road yesterday (June 2).

Emergency services were called following reports that a man had suffered serious injuries after an industrial accident at Stoke Road, Guildford at 1:45pm.

Following at-the-scene treatment, the man was airlifted to St George’s Hospital with potentially life-changing injuries. The incident has been referred to the Health and Safety Executive.

The A320 Stoke Road remained closed in both directions while the area was made safe. One report said that power was cut to the Lido swimming pool during the incident.

Offensive behaviour reported in Merrow

Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses after a man followed and swore at a woman and her two young children on Old Merrow Street at around 1pm on Sunday (30 May).

The man was described as being white, in his 50s, with a small beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black coat, black waterproof trousers, sunglasses and a green and white cap.
