“South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and gave medical attention at the scene.
“A 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene for driving over the prescribed limit. He has since been de-arrested in order to receive medical treatment, and will be attending a police station to be interviewed in due course.”
December 2: A multi-vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway of the A3 this afternoon was reported by Dragon reader Jim Allen. He has observed two casualties being taken from the scene.
Mr Allen, who lives nearby, said: “At approximately 4.15pm I heard a loud bang from behind the fence in Bowers Lane. Looking over, I saw a silver estate car had lost its left front suspension and behind it a white car had its bonnet apparently crumpled by a collision. Both were on the grass of the central reservation.
“Behind the cars was a Ford Transit and a flatbed articulated lorry was across lanes two and three.
“Traffic started backing up immediately towards the Stoke interchange to the south and the first emergency service sirens were heard at 4.26.”
Several emergency service vehicles attended the scene shortly afterwards.
