Justin Fazio conceded just a single to support five unanswered second period goals that followed a pair in the first as Flames built an insurmountable lead on the way to an eventual 8-1 win over the visiting Dundee Stars, two places below Guildford in the standings.

Inside the back half of the opening frame, Jake Coughler put the home team in the lead and Cole Ully doubled it on a late period powerplay.

Seconds into the middle set, Josh Waller made it a 3 goal spread and Ully’s second powerplay conversion followed to extend the difference.  A Josh Nixon strike, then a brace by Jack Jacome late in the frame, the last one on a powerplay, had Flames fully in command, 7-0 through 40 minutes.

Just under five minutes into the second, Nick Seitz scored his opener in Flames kit and 72 seconds from time Keanu Yamamoto spoiled Fazio’s bid for a shutout to change the score a little but not the result.

“We are obviously a lot happier with that result,” said Paul Dixon. “Friday was not a good night at Cardiff and I am sure guys were itching to get back out and they were able to execute and generate a very much needed win.

“We have a lot of work to do to fix things up as we move forward, but certainly nice to move into our next work week with guys feeling much better on the back of a win.”
