From GBC spokesperson

In response to: Two Car Park U-turns Leaves Us As We Were

To clarify the situation re parking at the council’s Millmead offices for hon freeman and aldermen, we reached the decision to issue a new style pass, rather than asking them to collect a temporary permit each time, because, on review, it is a more efficient and appropriate system.

It is easier for some of the hon freemen and alderman to just display the pass and then make their way into Millmead for a meeting, rather than having to park, go to reception for a permit, go back to their car and then go to the meeting.

It is also a more efficient system in terms of processing and staff time because our reception staff do not have to arrange a temporary permit for each visit.  Also, to confirm, a parking pass is only for council use when hon freeman or aldermen are at day time meetings at our Millmead offices.

Why did it take so long for this efficient and logical system to be put into operation ?

It is not rocket science !

Or explain it clearly and unambiguously to the recipients?

And what about members of the public attending appointments or just making inquiries. I’ve never seen a notice about needing a pass during weekdays.
