Letter: GBC Needs an Independent Review of its Transparency Policies

From David Roberts

For the nth time: Guildford Borough Council needs an independent review of its transparency policies to cover, especially, their Codes of Conduct (which contain only an edited version of the mandatory Nolan Principles and largely ignores non-financial corruption), Freedom of Information processes (which make it too easy for complaints to be evaded by delay or dismissed as trivial, vexatious or politically motivated) and the public complaints procedure (which has failed in the most egregious cases and which is routinely abused by Executive councillors to gag weaker council members).

Who will propose this simple and obvious measure? If the Lib Dems won’t, why don’t R4GV act?
