In response to: Guildford Mourns Gordon Bridger, the Former Mayor Who Loved His Town
My thoughts are very much with Gordon’s family and close friends this weekend. I hope it will be of some comfort for them to know they will be in our thoughts at this difficult time.
Guildford has lost a great champion, an amazing man, fighting for what he believed in right to the end.
I have such very fond memories of Gordon, his emails about foreign aid, the guaranteed 10 minutes of good debate every time I bumped into him, always thoughtful, considered and relentlessly cheerful.
Some years ago, he sent me his book, How I Failed to Save the World, a characteristically understated title from a man who had given many, many years of dedicated service.
It’s a wonderful read and made better because you can hear Gordon’s voice ring through on every page. He was somewhat surprised I had actually read it but I can thoroughly recommend it.
Guildford will mourn his passing and I, like many, will miss him a great deal.

I agree with Anne Milton. My husband Brian and I read Gordon’s book. He was a very clever man and I enjoyed his company at Castle Green Bowls Club.
We send our condolences to his lovely wife Jean and family.
