Letter: How Can Any Future Planning Decision On Wisley Be Seen As Unbiased?

Cllr Hodge’s letter in support of GBC’s Wisley garden village proposal

From John Redpath

R4GV borough council candidate for Holy Trinity ward in the forthcoming election

In response to: GBC Admits Collaborating with Property Developers on SCC Letter Backing Wisley ‘Garden Village’ Bid

If the letter doesn’t, or isn’t intended, to influence the planning decision about Wisley, if it was only to encourage finance for the project, then why was it passed through the GBC Planning Department on its way to SCC? Surely finance has nothing to do with planning and planners should not be involved as such?

There seems to be far too much collaboration with the developer here and council officers have become involved, for whatever reason, in matters they should make sure they are far distant from. It’s the same for the elected members.

How can any future planning decision on Wisley be seen as unbiased and unaffected by this? Development of Wisley should either be removed from the plan entirely or its future decided elsewhere other than Millmead.
