Letter: I Applaud Our MP Coming Off the Fence To Stop a ‘No-deal’ Brexit

In response to: Guildford’s Rebel Tory MP Anne Milton Outlines Her Stance on PM’s No-Deal Brexit

I do not often agree with Anne Milton, and I am sure we will continue to politely disagree, but I do applaud her for her bravery and honesty in finally coming off the fence and joining the team trying to stop “No-deal”.

It is never an easy thing to vote against your own ‘side’ particularly after many years in the whips office, but Anne has shown that she can act in the interests of the nation rather than her party and I congratulate her on this.

In response to some of the other comments made by other readers, have they not noticed that Boris Johnson is leading an extreme right-wing Conservative government? That in typical Trump style, facts and truth are now subservient to his ends? That his senior adviser, who would never describe himself as a Tory, is a bully who wields far more power than any non-elected advisor should? That in a matter of days the new prime minister has trashed this country’s reputation and split the Conservative Party down the middle causing his own brother to resign?

And yet, all they see, apparently, is a Labour leader with “extreme” left-wing views. A leader whose carefully costed economic plans were so recently trashed by the Tories as needing a “magic money tree” yet now appear modest beside the sudden burst of irresponsible Tory spending.

It really doesn’t matter how much the press paints Corbyn as a “Marxist”, the real extremist is now in No 10.
