Paving outside Waitrose

In response to: Pavement Survey In Town Centre Reveals Patchwork Performance

Where to start about pavements in Guildford town centre.

The ones outside Waitrose are disgraceful and a large number of local residents have registered complaints. One tiny patch has been made safe, the rest is an accident waiting to happen.

I broke my ankle last year and since then have been campaigning to GBC and SCC about the condition of pavements in Guildford. It makes it so hard for anyone with mobility issues to get around independently.

The answer received regarding the paving slabs outside Waitrose is that there is not budget to fix them properly. Very disappointing comments from both councils and Waitrose in the article.

The fact is the laying of paving slabs was rushed to get the store open. Now, only three years later, they are no longer fit for purpose and that’s not good enough.
