The Local Plan adoption debate underway at GBC

From Colin and Annie Cross

In response to: GBC Adopts Local Plan Despite Series of Protests And Objections

Speaking as a current Independent Alliance Councillor and on behalf of my wife, who spoke last night also, we wish to record our dismay at the passing of this Plan.

The arrogance, intransigence and plain pigheadedness displayed by the Tory leaders and their lemming-like followers was laid bare for the world to see.

How they sleep at night I can’t comprehend but maybe it’s just another scalp to them.

I can only hope that the judgement of the citizens of our borough is shown to be decisive at the ballot box next Thursday and retribution is swift.

Colin Cross is a R4GV candidate for Lovelace (Ripley, Wisley and Ockham) in the borough council elections to be held on May 2.

Colin Cross would therefore presumably be happy to endorse the Conservatives in Clandon and Horsley, Send etc who have been opposing the Local Plan and indeed were the only Conservatives to vote against the Plan, as the candidates for next week’s election promised to do if the vote came up after election.

The two Conservatives referred to who voted against the Local Plan are not standing in this election. So Colin Cross could not endorse them even if he wanted to!

There are, however, two R4GV candidates and a GGG candidate who will continue Mr Sarti’s and Lady Wicks’ opposition.

Ben Paton is a GGG candidate for Effingham in the borough council elections to be held on May 2.

I very much doubt it – Young people across the borough were rejoicing last night as well as those who live in the Town who are fed up with being used as a dumping ground.

Absolutely fantastic news that this plan has finally been approved!

Could we have some pictures of the rejoicing, please. It’s always uplifting to see happy youngsters.
