If this bridge is a disaster in the making (as the writer suggests) why would the council want local election photocalls? Surely this would be the last thing they would use to promote themselves.

I think the bridge is an excellent idea and much needed. Now that the long overdue railway station redevelopment has obtained planning permission this bridge will allow the regeneration of this much-neglected area to continue.

With the new office scheme currently under construction in Mary Road, and the planned redevelopment of the adjacent Arriva Bus Depot, more pedestrians will be walking to the station.

The current bridge is too narrow and doesn’t feel strong enough when more than two people are on it.
