Letter: Local Democracy Works For Once

From Derek Carley

In response to: Please Sign Petition To Council Over Land Changes At Wanborough Fields

If it was not for The Guildford Dragon NEWS bringing this to the attention of me and many others this successful outcome regarding Wanborough Fields would have not resulted.

Local democracy works for once. Now how can we take on the Local Plan and Network Rail?

Here is the email from Guildford Borough Council. Success I think:

From: Guildford Borough Council (Petitions) [mailto:CommitteeServices@guildford.gov.uk]
Sent: 08 February 2018 11:20
Subject: Article 4 Direction

I am writing to inform you that the decision to make an Article 4 Direction in respect of this matter has now been taken by the Leader of the Council, and Lead Councillor for Planning and Regeneration, Councillor Paul Spooner, details of which can be viewed on our website: http://www2.guildford.gov.uk/councilmeetings/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?id=824&LLL=0

The effect of the Leader’s decision is to expedite the consideration and determination of the matter with the decision coming into immediate effect, without the necessity of the matter being referred to the Executive at its meeting on 20 February 2018, as originally intended.

This decision also has the effect of taking the action requested in the e-petition. Therefore, under the terms of our Petition Scheme, this e-petition is now closed.
