Letter: More Mayhem – This Time It’s Chilworth

In response to: It’s Mayhem on Local Roads

And so the mayhem goes on.

Today (Monday, August 18), New Road in Chilworth has been closed for emergency water works. The closure is expected to last three days.

While the road is closed, Compass Travel bus service 32 will divert via the A25 and Newlands Corner and will not be able to serve Shalford, Chilworth or Albury.

Many vehicles don’t believe the Road Closed sign and try to get through without success. Some cars and vans are driving along the pavement.

Chilworth with no buses for three days, thank you Thames Water.

The closed road was already a diversion for the closed road in Shalford – going on for weeks. Thames Water did nothing for around three days once the fountain started spouting the middle of Chilworth, but, Blacksmith Lane still has two sizeable water leaks to this very day – they have been there for over 20 years, despite numerous totally inept attempts to fix them.

Thames Water and SCC – a marriage made in hell for local residents.
