From Simon Page
I am a Guildford resident and delighted that R4GV [Residents for Guildford and Villages] is now well represented on the borough council, and applaud The Dragon’s coverage.
Whilst on holiday in Hawaii, I noticed that the local MauiNow website has a feature called “ask the mayor”. This is a feature which has an email address and one can ask the mayor anything, and the mayor chooses something to reply to on a weekly basis. Questions raised cover a multiplicity of subjects from waste disposal to taxes, from eco laws to fuel prices. It might be a feature that you could add to your site.
One question I would ask is, why are Tesco and other supermarkets allowed to sell plants but apparently Aldi has been forbidden by the council for so doing? Very odd.
Editor’s note: In Guildford Borough the mayor’s role is primarily ceremonial but perhaps such a non-partisan role could be included in his/her duties or the questions could be directed to the council leader. We will forward your suggestion.
