Letter: The Decision to Close Schools Was Correct

In response to: Teachers Need Jab as Priority

I am a GCSE student from Guildford.

I certainly don’t believe that “this decision could have been made sooner”, without closing schools sooner. Schools did not close until it was absolutely necessary, and cancelling exams was evidently a last resort.

Taking the decision to cancel exams sooner would have meant closing schools before absolutely necessary, and that in itself would have been unnecessarily damaging.

As you can imagine, I am not enjoying the current situation, and, yes, a great number of doubts and worries arise. But to say that this decision could have been reached earlier is simply wrong.

The right decision was made at the right time.
