In response to: Shops Still Trading In Town Centre
One addition to the businesses mentioned in article is the Royal Oak pub (behind Holy Trinity Church). It is running a takeaway beer service to dispose of their excess stock.
I popped in yesterday and picked up some very nice Hogs Back ale, locally brewed in Tongham, in a lovely recyclable and resealable container (a two-pint milk bottle).
Needless to say, I combined the trip with grocery shopping in order to avoid a non-essential journey.

In the 1960s we would go to The Royal Oak every Saturday lunchtime for a pint or two. It was part of our rounds of the town, part of our routine and now, part of our joint memory as we live miles apart but remain in touch. A fine old pub in a perfect setting.
