In response to: Guildford MP Meets Railway Director To Discuss Ongoing Issues
Do we know if the major issue of foldable bicycles was raised? These truly need to be banned at peak times, there is barely room to stand; then you find someone has left one of these in a doorway, making for a very unpleasant journey for everyone else.
In an ideal world with good capacity trains they are welcome, however with the service we have, sadly, people need to decide if they wish to cycle or use the train.
Do we know if Anne Milton raised this as I’m aware of countless people who replied to her survey on this topic?

I am not a massive fan of cycling, but I have to disagree with the writer of this letter.
The folding bike on the train has, in all probability, brought a commuter from home to the railway station and will then take the same commuter from the station to their place of work after the rail journey.
At the end of the day, the same applies in the other direction.
This removes a motor vehicle journey from our congested roads at either end.
Those people are going to and from work, so will in all probability, have no option but to travel at peak times.
What we should be saying is that more provision should be made for cycle carriage on trains, not calling for banning them at peak times when they are most needed.

Dave Middleton – I suspect we agree more than you think. As I state I would like more provisions to be made to accommodate everyone and their desires however being realistic the only way to create more storage space is to reduce standing/seating space. If anyone has a viable, idea of a happy medium then please suggest.
