With just three weeks to go until the Platinum Jubilee weekend, many neighbourhoods and communities have been getting busy organising Big Lunch celebrations in their roads, neighbourhoods, parks and local areas.

To ensure that everyone has a chance to get in on the Big Lunch fun – Surrey libraries have organised some Big Lunches in selected libraries to enable people to get together.  So far eleven Surrey libraries have announced their Big Lunch events throughout June, including Guildford Library on June 1 at 2pm.

The county council says it is a great excuse to get together, have lunch and enjoy some fun activities.

The Surrey County Council Jubilee website – gives details of the libraries taking part so far and the activities they will be putting on for everyone – most have no need to book, but residents can check the following website for more details: The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022 – Surrey County Council (surreycc.gov.uk)

Susan Wills Acting Assistant Director- Cultural Services said “We at Surrey libraries wanted to make sure that everyone in our communities got an opportunity to come together this Jubilee for a Big Lunch celebration. The Big Lunch is a great initiative for getting communities together and what better place than at libraries that have community at the very heart of what they deliver in their local areas”

Some of the other Surrey libraries, near to Guildford, that have confirmed are:

Leatherhead Library – Wednesday 1 June – 2pm – 4pm

Woking Library – Saturday 4 June – 2pm – 4pm

Frimley Green Library – Saturday 4 June – 11am – 3pm
